Cast Glass Finial Sculpture – Yellow

A little sculpture of sunshine.

This yellow cast glass finial is a celebration of light, form, and feeling. Made using a kiln-casting process, each piece begins as a wax model—formed by hand, then encased in a mould. Once the wax is melted away, chunks of crystal glass are carefully placed above the mould, which is then slowly fired in a kiln. Over many hours, the glass melts and flows down into the cavity left by the wax, capturing every curve and detail of the original form.

It’s a slow, intentional process—and the result is worth the wait. This particular yellow reminds me of sunlight on a bright summer’s day. It’s my favourite colour, and one I couldn’t resist making—it simply brings joy every time I see it.

The sculptural form is inspired by antique finials—those elegant ornaments that once adorned stair rails, bedposts, and curtain rods. Here, the form is softened and made luminous through glass. Place it on a windowsill, desk, or bookshelf, and it glows with warmth and optimism.

Only three are available, each slightly different due to the handmade process.
