Warranty & Aftercare

Jewellery is made to be worn, and from time to time it may need a little care.

HerbertandWilks Jewellery pieces are covered against manufacturing faults for six months from the date of purchase. I also offer ongoing cleaning, stone checking and repair services to help you look after your jewellery beyond the warranty period.

Manufacturing Warranty

If your jewellery arrives damaged or develops a manufacturing fault, please get in touch and I'll do everything I can to make things right.

Manufacturing faults will be repaired at no cost within six months of purchase. Proof of purchase is required.

During this period, I will:

  • reset loose stones at no charge;
  • replace small stones that have fallen out as a result of a manufacturing fault; and
  • replace broken chains at no cost.

I ask that broken chains are returned to me so they can be recycled.

If your jewellery was supplied incorrectly or is faulty, the cost of returning it to me will be refunded.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

The six-month warranty does not cover general wear and tear or accidental damage, including:

  • rings that have been bent out of shape;
  • oxidisation;
  • chipped, cracked or broken gemstones;
  • gold plating that has worn over time; or
  • extreme damage, such as jewellery that has been stepped on or run over.

Any problems resulting from alterations, servicing or repairs carried out by a third party are not covered by the HerbertandWilks Jewellery warranty.

Repairs Outside the Warranty

If your jewellery needs attention outside the six-month warranty period, I'm still very happy to take a look.

I can assess the damage and let you know the cost before any work goes ahead.

Cleaning, Stone Checking & Tightening

If you're based in Auckland, you're always welcome to bring your HerbertandWilks Jewellery pieces back to my Mt Eden studio for:

  • cleaning;
  • stone checking; and
  • tightening.

Please get in touch before bringing your jewellery in so we can arrange a suitable time.

Gold Plating & Replating

Gold plating will naturally wear over time. How quickly this happens depends on how often your jewellery is worn and how it is cared for.

If you would like your jewellery replated, please contact me for a quote.

Looking After Your Jewellery

Regular checking and cleaning can help identify loose stones, worn settings or other issues before they become larger repairs.

If something doesn't look or feel quite right, please get in touch and I can advise you on the best next step.
