Sterling Silver: Gently polish with a soft jewellery cloth to maintain shine. Silver Care Guide →
Solid Gold (9ct, 14ct, 18ct): Solid gold will not tarnish or peel, but it can gather oils and dust. Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush to restore its brilliance.
18ct Gold Plate: Avoid water, perfumes, and lotions to preserve the gold layer. Gold Plate Care Guide →
Bronze: Over time, bronze develops a unique vintage patina. Polish to restore brightness or leave to age naturally. Bronze Care Guide →
Gemstones: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners.

18ct Gold Plate
Warm and light-catching. Adds a soft glow without feeling overstated.
Quick Answers
Are these sold as a pair? Yes, always sold as a pair.
Will the bronze patina change over time? Yes — bronze develops a natural patina with wear. You can embrace it or gently polish it back with a soft cloth. See our Bronze Jewellery Care Guide for tips.
Is the texture the same across all three metals? Yes — all three versions share the same hand-textured leaf miner weevil surface detail. The finish varies by metal: patina on bronze, satin on sterling silver, and polished on the gold plate.
Style & Inspiration
On walks around Mt Eden, I often find myself picking up pōhutukawa leaves — drawn to their shape and the tiny imperfections that make each one unique. The leaf miner weevil leaves delicate tracks across the surface that look almost engineered. Each earring captures that detail in metal.
The bronze version develops a rich patina over time, shifting through greens, reds, and warm browns. Sterling silver has a satin finish that catches light without being flashy. The 18ct gold plate brings warmth and occasion — equally at home at a gallery opening or a summer wedding.
Pairs beautifully with the Kōwhai Pod Bangles and other pieces from the Botanical Collection. A meaningful gift for a Bronze Wedding Anniversary, birthday, or anyone who loves New Zealand's native landscape.
