Jewellery Care Guide

Sterling Silver: Gently polish with a soft jewellery cloth to maintain shine. Silver Care Guide →

Solid Gold (9ct, 14ct, 18ct): Solid gold will not tarnish or peel, but it can gather oils and dust. Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush to restore its brilliance.

18ct Gold Plate: Avoid water, perfumes, and lotions to preserve the gold layer. Gold Plate Care Guide →

Bronze: Over time, bronze develops a unique vintage patina. Polish to restore brightness or leave to age naturally. Bronze Care Guide →

Gemstones: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners.

A hand-forged sterling silver signet ring set with a natural oval bloodstone cabochon. Made using the lost wax process in our Mt Eden studio, Auckland. Available in sizes P–V; size T is ready to ship, all other sizes made to order in 4–6 weeks. Rustic fine jewellery — no two rings are ever the same.

Bloodstone is the traditional birthstone for March, a dark green chalcedony flecked with red iron oxide inclusions that has been set into signet rings since antiquity. Each stone is individually selected for its colour and markings. The oval cabochon sits smooth against a deliberately textured silver band — contrast in both material and feel. Whether worn as a personal statement, a milestone gift, or a birthstone ring, this piece carries craft, story, and intent.

Style & Inspiration

The bloodstone signet sits at the intersection of ancient gemstone lore and contemporary handmade jewellery. It reads as bold without being loud — the deep green stone draws the eye, the textured silver grounds it. This is a ring for people who want something with presence and history, not polish and perfection.

It pairs well with other organic silver pieces — a hammered band, a cast pendant, a simple chain. Equally at home worn alone as a statement ring or stacked with other signet styles. If you're drawn to the rectangle form, see the Rectangle Bloodstone Signet Ring. For the full range, browse the Signet Rings collection.

Read more about the stone, its history, and the making process in our Bloodstone journal post. For birthstone context, see our Birthstone Guide.
