Every piece of HerbertandWilks jewellery is hand-sculpted, cast, and finished by Sally in her Mt Eden studio. Jewellery Care Guide

Sterling Silver: Gently polish with a soft jewellery cloth to maintain shine. Silver Care Guide →

Solid Gold (9ct, 14ct, 18ct): Solid gold will not tarnish or peel, but it can gather oils and dust. Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush to restore its brilliance.

18ct Gold Plate: Avoid water, perfumes, and lotions to preserve the gold layer. Gold Plate Care Guide →

Bronze: Over time, bronze develops a unique vintage patina. Polish to restore brightness or leave to age naturally. Bronze Care Guide →

Gemstones: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners.

A one-of-a-kind men’s bloodstone signet ring handmade in solid sterling silver and ready to ship in size S½. The natural oval bloodstone has deep-green colouring with distinctive red markings across one half, set against an organic silver band. Handmade in my Mt Eden workshop, the exact ring pictured is the one you will receive.

Bloodstone is the traditional birthstone for March—a dark-green chalcedony marked by natural red iron oxide inclusions. Used in signet rings since antiquity, it has a long association with strength, courage and protection.

Each bloodstone is individually selected for its colour and markings. The smooth oval cabochon contrasts with the deliberately irregular silver band, giving the ring weight and presence without feeling overly polished.

It can be worn as a personal signet ring, a March birthstone ring or a meaningful gift to mark a birthday, anniversary or milestone.

A Distinctive Father’s Day Gift

For someone who would never choose a conventional piece of men’s jewellery, this bloodstone signet ring offers something more individual.

Handmade in Auckland and ready to ship, it makes a distinctive Father’s Day gift for a dad, partner or father figure in New Zealand or Australia. The exact stone, texture and markings belong only to this ring—there will not be another exactly like it.

Style and Inspiration

The bloodstone signet sits between ancient gemstone history and contemporary handmade jewellery. It feels bold without being loud: the deep-green stone draws the eye, while the organic silver band keeps it tactile and grounded.

This is a ring for someone who wants jewellery with presence, character and visible signs of the hand behind it—not polish and perfection.

Read more about the stone, its history, and the making process in our Bloodstone journal post. For birthstone context, see our Birthstone Guide.
