These Pohutukawa Lace Leaf Earrings are inspired by the curved leaves you spot on your walks around Maungawhau / Mt Eden. Each pair is crafted in fine silver and textured using embroidered silk lace to echo the delicate veins and edges of the real leaf. I then fuse 24 ct gold leaf to the surface using the Keum-Boo technique, creating that soft, golden shimmer that feels like sunlight catching the leaves on a clear summer day.

Lightweight, eye-catching and easy to wear, these dangle earrings have become one of my original best sellers. The mixed-metal detail makes them special, while the size keeps them comfortable enough for everyday wear. No two pairs are exactly the same, so yours will always feel like a one-off.

Gently wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing to maintain the fine silver and keep the gold leaf shimmering. Avoid abrasive polishing cloths on the gold leaf areas. With a little care, they’ll stay beautiful for years to come.

I’m Sally, the jeweller behind HerbertandWilks Jewellery, working from my studio in Mt Eden, Auckland. I design and make small-batch and one-off pieces for people who are tired of mass-produced jewellery and want something with a story. These Pōhutukawa Lace Leaf Earrings are some of my earliest designs and remain a studio favourite—rooted in our local landscape, made slowly by hand, and created to be worn, loved and passed on.
